I'm flying out to LA tomorrow, and it just dawned on me that Byron and I will be celebrating our 11 month anniversary this Saturday; we've never visited each other on the actual date of our anniversary since we started dating (July 4th, 2010). He's taking me to the MOCA: Art in the Streets exhibit in the morning, then later on that evening, we'll get all gussied up and watch Gustavo Dudamel conduct Brahm's 4th Symphony at the Walt Disney LA Philharmonic. I haven't been to one of these classy things in a long time, and I think the last time may have been for a field trip for me while in high school. Next thing on our list will be an opera or a ballet of some sort (preferably something by Mozart).
For the past couple of visits, I've been hell bent on making a decent meal for him while I'm there. I'm not sure exactly why, but I just want to. Maybe I'm trying to impress him or something - which is completely unprecedented in my history of dating anybody. Am I putting out a subliminal advertisement that I'm ready to be married through acts of modern domestication of a woman? Lol, let's hope not, I'm not quite there yet. The weather forecast spoiled my original plans of making strawberry/mango vinaigrette salad, which I'll now save for a warmer day, and instead make udon (largely consisting of seafood and tofu) which seems to be more appropriate for 20Âșc in LA this weekend.

Ooh, and apparently I'll have an opportunity to rub elbows with some of Silicon Valley's prominent folks in the techie/science/software engineering industry. I won't name names since the event hasn't been announced, but when the time comes (and if I don't find myself becoming too lazy), I'll blog about my experience hanging out with some of the rich folk in this private soiree. Part of me feels as if I'll be the oddball in that group considering I'm not exactly in their fields of study nor career paths, but who knows? It's always good to network, which means I have to make myself believe that I'm not on the dull side of the spectrum or others will call me out on it. Lol. We'll see how this goes :)
Toodles!

P.S. I'm officially finished with The Hunger Games trilogy. It took me about a month to finish all of it since I had to wait for an available copy at the library (I was 114th in line). I definitely recommend reading it! Thank goodness for a headstrong female lead.
