It's been damn near 3 months since my last update on this blog, and I can honestly blame my work on it. But first, on to the good news:
A couple of weeks ago I was offered a permanent full time position here at NASA after I graduate, which I'm not sure means either I'll be civil servant or not, but whatever the case may be, federal jobs aren't handed out easily anymore and some college graduates with higher degrees than my own aren't nearly as lucky. The prospect of going salary with benefits is really appealing. Also, I've been trusted to handle some of the financial aspect of this job, so I def will have a lot of room to move up. Ooh and as an ego-boost, I quote my lead financial manager's compliment to me from my boss "He has nothing but good things to say about you, so don't worry."
Hello, grown up life.
On another note, I've taken up being vegan (not veganism) solely on the basis of eating better & as a personal challenge to myself. I've debated on it for five years thanks to reading Skinny Bitch and found that I can definitely live without dairy or any cow/other common mammalian byproduct, but I've been finding it a rather difficult task to not crave for sushi or any sort of fish meal. I've remained strong as it's only been a month since I officially started, and so far have lost 5lbs. I'm receiving a lot of encouragement from a friend's mom who's been vegan for almost a score, so that's quite some time already. Also, it's not as expensive as most people claim it to be, I've found vegan soups in Safeway/Lucky for $2 that holds a hearty amount in one can or mix, and plenty of common snacks that most people don't even realize is vegan (Oreo cookies!). My boyfriend and I have taken a liking to making vegan home cooked meals, so that's a cute thing we've been trying to do together.
I'll be staying at Byron's this weekend with Lionel to go to Disneyland and see the Final Fantasy concert in LA. I've waited too too long to see Nobu Uematsu, and now's my chance!
